Germany Surrenders end of War in Europe

After 6 years of war, on the 7th May 1945, Germany signs unconditional surrender to the Allies

The surrender took place at Allied headquarters in Reims, France. The end of War in Europe. 

The first part of the agreed text for the surrender document read

The German Government and German High Command, recognising and acknowledging the complete defeat of the German armed forces on land, at sea and in the air, hereby announce Germany’s unconditional surrender”

Also, note Surrender took effect the following day and for the Soviets 2 days later
